Furnmill
Every house has a sound. We found Furnmill's.
A sonic identity for a furniture manufacturer, built in two layers. An emotive motif for what the furniture means at home, and a structural layer drawn from how it is made.
The brief
Furnmill does not sell furniture as a commodity. Every piece is made as a personal experience, and the value sits in that intimacy. The identity had to hold both: the quiet significance of a home, and the craft behind the objects that witness it.
What shipped
Furnmill is two things at once: a factory floor and somebody's living room. The identity had to hold both, so we built it from the larger one down. The structural DNA is the symphony, composed from the manufacturing itself and carrying the collective effort of the workforce. The emotive DNA is derived from it: a violin motif, one product in one customer's house, the same material reduced to a single voice. Piano carries the quiet hours around it. Because the motif comes out of the symphony rather than being scaled up into one, the identity holds at both ends without recomposition. Developed with Hermosa Design Studio.
